:: WHY NATURAL AND ORGANIC? ::

The simple answer is that is what nature intended for us

What difference does it make to me?

Many of us now acknowledge the benefit of buying organic food. Why should skincare be any different? After all, our skin is the largest organ in the human body.

Buying for example shower gels and soaps with chemicals in them is certainly cheaper than buying natural ones. Nearly all products sold in supermarkets and department stores have some chemicals in them; the most common of which is Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS). These chemicals are basically strong and cheap cleansing agents and are most commonly found in body washes, skin cleansers and shampoos.

The downside to using SLS is that they may cause irritation and dry skin. Evidence has also been put forward that they may also have carcinogenic properties.

Petrochemicals
are used in many moisturisers, hair products and skin creams as a lubricant. The most common ones used are liquid paraffin and mineral oil. Once again they are used because they are cheaper than their natural alternatives. The biggest irony with these is that despite their widespread use in moisturisers, the skin can not absorb them and they in fact clog the pores – the opposite of what a moisturiser should do!

PEG compounds
are used as cheap emulsifiers and cleansing agents in many products and are also believed to have carcinogenic properties.

Parabens
are preservatives designed to kill bacteria, prevent mould from growing and therefore increase the life of a product. However, there is widespread concern that the use of these preservatives in skincare products will damage the cells on our skin and indeed in our body when absorbed. They have also been found to disrupt hormone production in the body.

Nearly all cosmetics and skincare products contain a large number of artificial fragrances. The majority of allergic reactions to skincare products are a result of these.

What difference does it make to the Environment?

The need for a real commitment to our environment has never been more important. By using skincare products sourced from natural and organic ingredients you can undoubtedly help the sustainability of our environment. Organic farming is better for wildlife and causes less pollution from chemical fertilisers and pesticides.

To avoid unnecessary waste we have opted to limit the amount of packaging we use. All product information is printed on the bottle and the attached ‘tag’.

There are no environment harming chemicals in the 27 Skincare Range. To make it easier for you when shopping, here is a list of the chemicals to avoid in shampoos, shower washes and skincare products:
